July 12, 2025 Tournament

The stage is set for Championship Sunday at the USTA Girls’ 18s National Clay Court Championship at LTP Charleston.

In a thrilling semifinal, Janae Preston (NV) battled through a back-and-forth match against Lucy Oyebog (CT), coming out on top with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory. She’ll meet Nicole Weng (CA) in the final after Weng defeated Carlota Moreno (TN) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

The singles final will take place Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at LTP Mount Pleasant, followed by the doubles final at noon.

Earlier Saturday, Katie Spencer and Jordyn Hazelitt each secured wins in the consolation draw. Spencer, who recently committed to Florida State University, was coached earlier this year by LTP’s Patrick Hieber, during the Brewer Cup.

The consolation finals kick off Sunday at 8:00 a.m., with Spencer facing Calla McGill and Hazelitt taking on Ellery Mendell.

In doubles action, LTP’s own Francie Pate, daughter of coach Randy Pate, will compete in the semifinals, adding a local favorite to the championship mix.
