
The USTA Girls’ 18s National Clay Court Championships concluded Sunday at LTP Charleston with a full day of championship action.
Nicole Weng (CA) won the singles title in a competitive three-set match over Janae Preston (NV), 6-4, 6-7, 6-1. Weng’s consistent, powerful groundstrokes proved decisive in the third set after splitting the first two in a hard-fought battle.
In doubles, local player Francie Pate (Daniel Island, SC), representing LTP, teamed up with Carlota Moreno (TN) to reach the final and earn a USTA silver ball. The duo fell to Lillian Santos and Jordan Hazelitt in a tightly contested match, 7-6, 3-6, 3-6.
The event, one of the most prestigious junior tournaments in the country, featured top players from across the nation and concluded a successful week of elite-level tennis in Charleston.
